Reaching for Growth

  • Schoolhouse #18 7592 East Main Street Marshall, VA, 20115 United States (map)

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month (May), Master Gardeners of Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties (MGFRC) and the Mental Health Association of Fauquier County (MHA - Fauquier) are welcoming Stephanie Scriven, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a certificate in horticultural therapy, to share with us ways in which horticultural activities can foster everyday wellness, especially as it relates to mental and emotional health. She will provide real examples of how horticulture can be used in professional settings, as well as at home, to improve our quality of life. Participants can expect to experience the benefits of horticulture themselves, through this hands-on session.

The program starts at 1:00 PM. and will last until 3:00 PM, including a short Q&A and a hands-on activity where participants can make something to take home. The program is free and open to the public, all ages welcome! The program will be held both indoors and outdoors and will continue as planned in case of rain.  A few seats will be provided, but attendees can also bring their own lawn chairs.

Parking is limited at #18 Schoolhouse. Participants are encouraged to park at Northern Fauquier Community Park and walk to the Schoolhouse. Additional parking is available along Whiting Road. Please do not park along John Marshall Highway.
