Join guest speakers Michael Guditus, Emergency Manager for Fauquier County, and Kelsi Steele, Conservation Education Specialist with the John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District, for an informative afternoon focused on managing water resources and improving property resilience. Michael Guditus will explain how Fauquier County evaluates drought severity and share practical strategies to help residents manage water consumption during dry conditions.
This spring’s significant rainfall has led many homeowners to face issues like excess runoff, sparse vegetation, and erosion. Kelsi Steele will address these challenges and introduce the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program (VCAP)—a cost-share program that provides financial, technical, and educational support to property owners installing eligible Best Management Practices (BMPs). Residents will learn about these practices and how they help keep rainwater on their property while improving water quality in Fauquier County and the greater Chesapeake Bay watershed. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to protect what matters most and strengthen your community’s resilience!
Classes start at 1 p.m. and will last about one hour including a short question and answer period. Note that the presentation will occur rain or shine - inside the schoolhouse if there is inclement weather. Please also note that the number of chairs in the schoolhouse is limited; please bring your own folding chair if possible.
Parking is limited at #18 Schoolhouse. Additional parking is available at the Northern Fauquier Community Park or along Whiting Road. Please do not park along Highway 55.
